Tor Names of Yesteryear - Yar Tor / Heart Tor - Large poster

  • £25.00

When an oral tradition is committed to print, it takes a miracle to get things right. It is well documented that the necessary care wasn't always taken for Dartmoor. As a result, the old names and stories fade with the passing of time-lost in translation from a local dialect to a visiting ear with a notebook and bad hand-writing.

Using our vintage presses to explore historic language, we hope to highlight what was nearly lost. Essentially, we've used obsolete tech to capture obsolete language.

There are four variants for this print:

  1. The old name, no location. Layout variations.
  2. The old name, with location. The most consistent series.
  3. The old name, overprinted - obscures the old name further - each one unique
  4. The old name, waste sheet - name is completed obscured (only one printed)

Occasion: Dartmoor souvenir, nostalgia, special locations

Perfect Gift For: history buff, outdoor enthusiast, adventurer, hill walker, map lover, geocacher, letterboxer
