This month, your prompt is to name the clouds.
A very long time ago, I joined the Cloud Appreciation Society. I believe I even got a membership certificate in the mail. They have a great library of the different clouds you might see on any given day. Official names like cirrus and cumulus. These are very fine names.
But what you could give clouds new names? Like Bob and Charles. Or maybe Sarah and Eve. (Which is interesting to have suggested those names because I don't usually think of clouds as gendered.) What if each cloud had a name? I don't mean the type of cloud, I mean the actual, individual clouds. A crowd of clouds, each with their own backstory and personality and raison d'être. How much fun would that be?
The clouds in the image above were seen over Dartmoor a few weeks ago. The thin stripes reminded me of punctuation marks: perhaps an elongated comma? The fluffy cumulus clouds were racing across the sky from east to west as if dragged by a hidden locomotive.
The big skies are one of my favourite things about living on Dartmoor. Do you have access to big skies where you live?
