Our do-good, feel-good, amazing set of pencils
If you're right-handed, you've likely never noticed that most pencils are designed with you in mind. (It's true.) Pick up any pencil as if to write. Now look at the words on the pencil. Are they the right way up for you? If yes, you're likely right-handed.
Acorn & Mire recognises that right isn't always right. To celebrate our lefty friends and family, we've designed a pencil which appears the right way up in a left hand.
The pencils are made in England, from FSC-certified timber. There is a limited amount of lacquer on the pencils so you can see the gorgeous colouring of the wood barrel. The pencils are "B" grade, which means they're a little softer than a "regular" (HB) pencil, and shouldn't dig into the paper as you're writing, or smudge under your hand. (If you know, you know.)
The four pencils sit in a lovely box that we make in our Devon studio. The Acorn & Mire logo is printed, by hand, from wood type on our vintage printing press. The packaging is entirely recycled paper that's made in the UK. That's right: it's plastic-free!
These pencils are the perfect gift for a friend, family members, colleague, or even yourself!
They're also available in right-handed orientation if you're so inclined. We won't judge.
Nature Journal estimates 10% of the global population is left-handed (about 12% in the UK), and more likely male than female.
As with our other Acorn & Mire stationery products, a percentage of the profits from the sale of this set goes to environmental charities that support hedgerow and forest regeneration, and peatland regeneration (hence: Acorn & Mire).
