Growing up, one of my very favourite notebooks was a flip-top notebook. As I progressed through the pages, I'd fold them along alternating diagonals, adding a topic along the folded edge, so I could easily find the right page. As I developed my green sketching and nature journaling practice, I sought out notebooks in a landscape orientation. There's no rule for whether you use this notebook as a flip-top, or landscape oriented notebook. You can even change your mind from page-to-page.
The cover, first and last pages of the notebook are printed in our studio on our vintage printing press. The first page replicates the cover; the last page of the notebook is the info sheet for our studio ethos. These pages are in addition to the blank pages of the notebook. We've added these pages to give you a bit more information about why we think this notebook is so special. Also, I hate writing on the first page of a notebook, so adding this "title page" makes it easy to flip to page two so I can start using my notebooks without the usual anxiety.
On Dartmoor, rock outcrops are referred to as "tors". They are generally at the top of a hill, but not always. North Hessary Tor is a little north of Princetown.
Notebook size: 200mm x 130mm.
Pages: 104 pages (52 sheets) of recycled paper made in England from take-away coffee cups. A lovely 120gsm paper with a bit of texture.
Cover: Green front cover (380gsm), and a sturdy dark grey backing board (1250microns). Both are recycled, and UK-made.
Tor: North Hessary Tor is an easy, but uphill, hike from Princetown. On a clear day (which does happen!), North Hessary Tor offers a wonderful viewing platform to see into the north and south ends of the moor.
This is part of the Plan, Reflect, Share series. Its aim is to support people who are dealing with anxiety by getting their thoughts out of their head, and onto paper. This is step "two" of the process: journaling.
This notebook has been discontinued in favour of the Acorn & Mire notebook (which is slightly narrower, and fits into our upcoming gift sets). There are still a few remaining.
